Spiced Apple Butter Sangria

 Ingredients:

  • For the Spiced Syrup:
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/4 cup Butter Than Jam Apple Cinnamon Bliss fruit butter
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 2 star anise
  • For the Sangria:
    • The spiced simple syrup
    • 1 bottle dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc work well)
    • 2 medium oranges, thinly sliced
    • 2 medium apples, thinly sliced
    • 1 cup frozen cranberries
    • 1 bottle prosecco
    • Extra cinnamon sticks and anise stars, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Make the Spiced Syrup:

    • Combine sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, and star anise in a saucepan.
    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until sugar dissolves.
    • Stir in fruit butter and then remove from heat.
    • Let cool completely.                          
  2. Assemble the Sangria:

    • In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup and white wine.
    • Stir in the orange and apple slices.
    • Stir in the prosecco and frozen cranberries.
    • Garnish with extra anise stars.
    • Chill for at least 1 hour, or up to 5 hours, before serving.

           Tip

  • Add one cinnamon stick to each glass.
